The shoot for Female Magazine last Friday was just what I needed after all the..stuff I've been going through.
Is there such thing as being at the peak of your lowest point?
The dynamics of my surroundings are changing, but I am pretty sure it is for the better.
This year, I'd like to not apologize too much for being me.
Life is too short for petty bickering and mind bitching. I've been reconnecting with friends who've I've abandoned for no reason and it is these people who have been helping me to pick up the pieces.
For that, I am thankful. I feel blessed.
A friend said to me the other day "Let life come to you" and she quoted it from She's Out of My League.
And so I will.

Joe got cool lil surprise gifts for me, NJ and LJ the other day - plastic straps that look like Casio digi watched. I picked out the Neon of course.

I put on NJ's on my wrist to check the size and it was perfect.
Can't wait to wear mine out, altho it will perpetually be 3.47pm/am?

Folie a Deux

I wouldn't be doing this post if those horns were real.
I was blown away, not so much by the design of the bag, but the pairing of colors and the beautiful horn handle. These handles are handcrafted from a special **amalgam of glass and black polyurethane using a handmade mold by designers of Rich-In-Craft.
The hooks were then **CNC milled and customized so that the antler "floats" on top of the wool.
Rich-in-Craft has produced only 36 of these limited edition bags - each is numbered and presented on a silk pillow in a custom made cloth covered box.

**I had to google these things to understand it better. Talk about mixing science and fashion. It can't get any better than this.
I was more curious what CNC milled meant so I found out that according to World Skills 2011, CNC means 'computer numerical control' (CNC), and it's a milling machine for cutting and shaping metal into components originally used in manufacturing.

Now that's a bag I'd want for Christmas.

I really like it when it's quiet in the car when I'm driving, because I feel that that's the only 'me' time I get. I don't think very much, I'm really one of those who go totally blank. I took this picture on my way home from work one day. I'm not sure if you can see what I see in this picture but it's the sun setting, and it was aligned in such a way that the Moon was in front of it. It was so beautiful.
At times like this, I am just reminded about how precious life and time is, and how important it is to live everyday being happy.

I've always wanted a shoe wall. Just a small wall would suffice really. One with white shelves arranged in a boxed manner so that each pair of shoes could have its own 'breathing' space.
Then I can have all my shoes on display.
Instead, I keep my shoes in huge Ikea boxes under my bed. Some wrapped individually, some not. Lately I've realized that some of my shoes in a particular box have punch-like marks on them.

Then I realized the culprit.

My 'durian' shoes. Except they don't smell. At all.

So I've not posted for over a month.

I've been spending most of my days and time here.
You may ask what is this, and some of you may also have seen this odd shaped building along the New Pantai Expressway (NPE).

This is my new office. Yes. My office.

I'm sad to announce my departure from Even Odds, a company and business I love and hold so close to my heart. Thank you NJ for the wonderful experiences I've had having worked at EO. I've learnt so much from you and if it wasn't for you and the company, I would not have the courage to take that big step to be where I am today.

On a happier note, Even Odds is running busily as usual.
Can't wait to see the awesome stuff they're working on!

I've never considered myself to be an 'artsy' person. Not in school, never at work. I was probably one of the least fashionable stylists when I first started working.
But what I've realized was that it was the beginning of my love for everything design.
My love for design started from my love for fashion.
Three year later, working in EO helped me realize that fashion was apart of just one piece of the design world - and that was when I was opened to the world of advertising.
And now, I work for a developer - PJCC Development. It is no coincidence that the development goes by 'Design for Living'. My love for design now includes architectural design.
Wonder where this will lead to next??

I can't be more proud to be working in such a design and architectural aggressive development.
I have new found respect for Architects, Engineers, Landscape artists, Quantity Surveyors and related Consulting teams who bring developments to 'life'.
Our Site Office cum Sales Gallery - The Pod, is only the beginning of an amazing development.

My whole world took a scary turn venturing into an unfamiliar industry but I'm enjoying every bit of it, and why shouldn't I, isn't life all about taking risks?
I heard a saying on the radio the other day by a very famous local celebrity chef.
"Be whoever you want to be. Just be the best".
Thanks Chef Wan, I think I'll be just that.
I have God to thank above All, His guidance and blessings never fails me.

Some would have jumped at it. I know I almost did.
Another month passed, and then it got marked down. Again. 50%.
Passed again. Said stupid things like "if it's meant to be it'll go down..further."

The Row finally made their debut at Barney's last night. This crocodile backpack retails at USD$40,000. Yes. USD$40,000
I'm not surprised at all since The Row is said to be one of the most expensive ready to wear lines. BUT, the quality is said to be impeccable. I don't own anything from The Row but honestly, if I could afford it, I really would.

I've always been a boho at heart.
The idea of being a free spirit, not living by rules and moving from place to place always seemed like the best way to live my idea of the best life.
Of course we all know that the Olsens revolutionized the boho chic look when it came to fashion. Funnily, I used to dress like one - for a very long time. I had it all, the smock tops and dresses, high waisted everything jeans, super high platforms and massive oversized sunglasses and stacks of necklaces and bangles.
I dropped all of it for a more polished look for some reason.. (I blame the age).

If I could still walk around looking like a lost boho girl, draping layers of clothing on my body, hair up in a messy bun and wearing huge round sunnies all day - I SO would.
I've always imagined how I'd look like now with long messy hair. (The last time I had my hair long was about 5 years ago - being a student then, I couldn't afford to do anything with my hair so I chopped it all off).
SO when Maizen told me they were going to (generously) give me a pair of House of Harlow 1960 Sasha's, I was mad happy because -
1. I've been checking out HOH 1960 for awhile now, and I personally think that Nicole Richie is a more polished version of a boho (if there is such a thing).
2. I've been meaning to try on a pair of round glasses. I'm so loyal to my aviators, a lil change wouldn't hurt.

So Sasha came home with my today. I look so different with these glasses on.

There has been a surge of new faces lately, especially models and actresses.

It was not too long ago when I could name models, and point out who is who in what movie.

I can't do it anymore. I'm not sure if I'm totally 'behind' or there is just too many to keep up with.

One familiar face that's just been pretty much everywhere lately is Rose Huntington-Whiteley. There is nothing about this girl you can forget.

Her first ad campaign with Burberry was in Autumn Winter 2009. She is currently the face of the Burberry Beauty collection, and according to Christopher Bailey, there is more to come.

Tim Kaeding and Lela Tillim, formerly from these respective brands have been working on a 'new' denim, creating fits and developing materials that look like denim but feel like cashmere.

When we speak of collaborations between designer / celebrities and high street brands, we all know of Kate Moss for Topshop, Victor & Rolf, Madonna and Lanvin for H&M and Moises De La Renta (son of Oscar De La Renta) for Mango.

I came across a collection tagged 'CHOSEN BY NATY for Mango' at a MNG store awhile back and I had no clue what it was about, or who Naty was. Browsing the racks, I found that the collection was tastefully designed, and that it had surprisingly unique pieces.

Nativad Abascal y Romero-Toro, formerly The Duchess of Feria from Seville Spain, who is more commonly known as Naty Abascal is a spanish socialite whose love for fashion pushed her into modelling.

Naty's success in modelling peaked when she became an obvious favourite to Carolina Herrera, Valentino and Oscar De La Renta. She is known, till this day as one of the most elegant women in the world.

So of course it was a no-brainer for Mango to pick Naty as a muse to create a collection that can only reflect Naty's beauty and elegance.

This was my pick, and remains one of my favorite dresses.

The Dress Up Topshop event gave the special invitees first-hand look at the newly launched Dress Up collection of dressses.
The idea behind this collection is to offer us girls an all-year-long collection of party dresses. I thought it was an extremely clever idea. Because this collection is so special, there is only several number of sizes in-store at one time. Twelve options of dresses were launched at the Pre-View party at Topshop KLCC, and there is more to come!

At the event, I wore the Black Rose Ruffle Zip Bandeau Dress by the Dress Up Topshop collection.
I paired them with my lace suspender tights and leather studded gloves all by Topshop.

The guests were treated to free make overs at the Topshop Make Up counter, chocolate cake pops and the sounds of Melissa Indot playing at the event.

Thank you Topshop for having me at the event! I am so happy I got to be apart of the launch of something so special.

I've not played the role of a Stylist for awhile now (since Ila Damiaa, and wayyy back when I was with Topshop) so when I was asked by Tongue In Chic to play Stylist with Miss Selfridge clothes and Diva accessories, I couldn't say no!

If you asked me whether I liked going to the beach say.. 5 years ago, my answer would have been a no.

I can't swim so I get jealous when I see my friends swimming.
I think of all the sand getting into my *ehem* bikini.
I didn't own any sort of swimwear because I was TOO conscious about my body.

Today
I don't care that I still can't swim because I'd rather use a floater and have a drink in one hand (with a friend swimming nearby to rescue me).
I love the sand, because I've built memories of my friends and I getting nicely tanned sleeping for hours on it (I think I occasionally need one).
I don't really care now if people are looking because..okay let's not go there.

So, now that I DO like the beach, I must admit, I still have a problem finding unique bikini/one-pieces.
My go-to brands are Billabong and Topshop. It definitely helps to know now that there are more brands being made available to us here in KL.
That being said, I was recently introduced to KYLA RUIZ, a swim wear line from Brazil.

Now, when I put Brazil, swim wear and women together, I imagine sexy bikinis, well toned butts, flat flat stomachs, and lanky legs on the beach.
I don't own ANY of these fab assets, however I must say, I may just need to own SOMETHING from the Kyla Ruiz's line.

I particularly like these three because I've yet to own a bandeau bikini and a one piece!

I should've posted this up a long time ago! These pictures were taken past Halloween in New York. We were all fooling around in our apartment lift like maddd.

The one thing I have in common with my friends is that we're almost always pre-occupied with work.
But I get it. I get it because we're extremely passionate about what we do.

Time and time again, you'll hear people say, 'It is important for you to love what you do'.
The fashion industry has always been on top of my list (and always will be), but I still have mad fun doing what I do. It isn't always a bed of roses, but I'll always survive.
I see this same passion in two of my friends, and it's DAMN obvious.

Melissa is probably the ONLY musician I know, who DJs and sings live on her sets.
She was recently invited by Air Asia to play at an event in conjunction with Paris Fashion Week, in Paris. She rocked the crowd at the Le Molotov Politbar when she DJ-ed and sang two tracks from her upcoming album.
At Melissa's shows, I'd be dancing shamelessly infront of her.

A month has passed since I last blogged.
SO much has happened.

Most of my time has been taken up by work, this should SO not be an excuse, but it is really the truth. Can't help it, I actually love what I do. Teeny update on work - just the fun bit!

MY BALLOON FIESTA
Even Odds has been working on the 3rd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon website since December.
This international hot air balloon event takes place in Putrajaya yearly - definitely one you should keep an eye out for.
Do check out the website. If not for me, do it for the beautiful balloons!
There are other stuff that goes on at the site as well, so if heights ain't your thing, check out what else you can do.

MOLLYDOOKERS COFFEE BAR
If you don't know already, I'm a huge coffee lover (I think I drink about 4-5 cups daily), and this makes me rather picky. I like my coffee in a very specific way.
Mollydookers is going to be offering me, well, and you, a cosy alternative to the usual Starbucks and Coffee Bean. It's coming really really soon so look out for this one too.

She wore a purple bare-back dress when she sang her slow numbers, with a super high middle slit, and super blinged out shoulders. The dress had thin chains, that draped from the back of her dress, and cuffed to her wrists. I wonder who made the dress?

WORKING OUT *Pfft*
I've quit my gym membership with Chi Fitness, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. It took me 4 months to finally quit because I absolutely LOVE my gym and personally, it is the best one around.
I've also quit because I can't bear parting with money every month for something I don't make full use of. I guess I'm being careful here?

So to those who do make time for gym, I admire your discipline! I sure lack it when it comes to working out.
I guess I could start going for walks or cycle outdoors.
I don't own a bike, so I rented one. It goes for RM10 an hour, and if you're interested, go with a bunch of friends to Desa Park City, it's ALOT of fun. I went with 5 other girlfriends (only one of them owns a bike) and I had the best time! The park gets really busy in the evenings, so I'd suggest you to cycle around the area, beyond the park.

AN ADDITION TO THE FAMILY
This is Isabelle Ashara Dennis and she's my niece. My first and only.
She's not done much except cry, sleep, drink milk, pee and poo - but I love her so much it's kinda mad. She's the first 'non-fat' baby I've met. Yeap. Non-fat. She's got super long limbs, thanks to my brother who is 6'1 and my sister-in-law who is 5'10.
So okay, she's like skim-baby.. and I should be skim-aunty. I don't like being called 'Aunty' though. Any suggestions for a cooler alternative to 'Aunty'?
Favourite brand for Baby clothing - Pumpkin Patch - hands down.

28th BIRTHDAY
I didn't think 28 was something to shout about - but my friends did.
We went to Palate Pallate for drinks, and partied on at Lust. What's a better way to celebrate your birthday with your extended family, vodka and music? I love my friends - to death. I don't know what I'd do without them.

On the day of my birthday, I was treated to Villa Samadhi, a LOVELY place I'd recommend everyone to go to. It's the perfect 'nearby getaway'. It's tucked right in the city, but it's so beautiful, you can actually pretend you're away at Bali.

I think I must have owned, worn, torn, slashed, killed or given away about 30 black pieces in the past 2-3 years or so. It's my second skin. Really.

My favourite ones are from Pull & Bear. I love the fact that they make the bands broad and comfy. I try to avoid buying leggings that have thin bands because it gives me a mini 'muffin top' when it hugs my hips. To me, muffin tu untuk makan. Bukan pinggang.

These ones are from The Secret Wardrobe.

I don't usually wear treggings but I thought the ribbons were too cute. It makes me feel like prancing around like a ballerina. Thanks to the Black Swan, I'm intrigued by Ballet now. I adore and love the movie. You MUST watch it if you haven't already.

2010 felt like forever, but with so many memories, I can't deny I had a pretty awesome year.

I barely hear people talk about Resolutions anymore. New Year Resolutions that is, and I wonder why.
I don't have a long list myself but it's only because every single time I make one, I totally fall off the whole thing before I can even remind myself what my list was.

One of the toughest things I wanted to do in 2010 was NOT give in to shopping temptations (which was one of my resolutions).
But how can I not?
I have to admit that I feel somewhat 'pressured' to update STRRAPPED with new stuff all the time - and this makes me shop.
It doesn't help that I'm a 'natural born' fashion forward junkie.

I work very hard to sustain this shopping habit of mine.
I'm not stupid to not know when I don't NEED to buy a certain something, but I ALWAYS end up consoling myself with a 'I deserve it' excuse.

This is something that I want and need to stop doing.
Hell, it's blardy expensive to be stylish in KL.

So there. I think I just stated my first New Year's resolution.
Shop less. I'm going to challenge myself. I'm challenging myself to not shop in the whole month of January. And if I succeed, I'll allow myself to probably buy ONE thing under the budget of RM200, and not shop again for the ENTIRE following month.

I'm more inclined to look at dresses that are less 'busy' nowadays. Totally don't mean that I'm over OTT dresses but I think in a more realistic manner, I'd like to be able to pick out a dress, and wear it to just about.. wherever!

I received a SS'11 Lookbook by Fala. I must say, I've not heard of this brand prior to receiving the lookbook but I immediately fell in love with the simplicity of the dresses. Note the random draping and cutouts. Love!

I honestly don't go to events as much as I want to (not going to make excuses here for not going) - but the thought of my friends going, the Twinkies playing, laughing and having a good time on a Friday night after a long week was hard to pass.
It was a fashion event - which meant I had to dress up.
Die.
Nothing to wear.
Long night.
Alot of standing.
How do I wear flats to an event, and not look underdressed?
The answer was Alexander - My first pair of sneakers.
First. Sad, I know. But she is so beautiful I could kill.

I spotted her in Atrium, an AMAZING store in Broadway in New York. I picked her up, asked for my size thinking, "please don't have my size".
"That is the last pair in the whole store" cooed this brunette, skinny as hell salesgirl looking HOT in her drainpipe leather pants. "You HAVE to take it."
She said that if I didn't, I would regret it forever.
She was right. And I didn't want her to be.
My first pair of sneakers and she is everything I ever wanted.

Of Highs & Lows

We were walking through a neighborhood in Manhattan before heading to Party City to get our Halloween costumes, when we came across this apartment.

The garden was absolutely AH-MA-ZING. A passerby told us that Courtney Cox used to live there, and that the rent was (a jaw dropping) USD$15k - a month.

See the grin on my face? Yeap. That's me pretending I lived in the neighborhood.

That was the hottest day throughout my entire stay - hence the shorts. :D

I wish I wore shorts more. I have legs of steel.

Okay I don't - but I still wish I wore shorts more.

The High Line

The High Line Park was definitely one the highlights of my trip to NY.

Lucky for us, the sun was blazing when we were there. It was the PERFECT day for a stroll at the park.

Trains used to run 30 feet in the air on the High Line in the 1930s.

Trains stopped running on the High Line since 1980.

A community-based profit group was formed in 1999 called 'Friends of the High Line' when the historic structure came under threat of demolition. They now work closely with the City of New York to protect and preserve this historical structure in Manhattan's largest industrial district, making it a beautiful elevated park.

Spotted DVF from afar. So beautiful those paintings on the red brick wall!

I have alot of love for beautiful things other than fashion.

The park wasn't the only thing I fell in love with. I fell in love with the fact that a group of people came together to save The High Line.
I fell in love with the fact that people cared about something that was not, theirs.

New York City - Part Uno

You can't love a departmental store without loving their window displays. Bergdoff Goodman's WWD: 100 Years, 100 Designers was SO amazing I could've spent the entire day just admiring every window!
As part of launching the said book just recently, they paid homage to 100 designers who have each left their stylish mark in the past 100 years.
Looks like this book is going into my Christmas List!

The MOST memorable thing I laid my eyes on in Henri Bendel was this NYC ring. Yeap, the Empire State in gun metal with onyx and crystals of all kinds. Madddd. Accessories HEAVEN!

What store is this you ask? MANOLO BLAHNIK.
Nope, I didn't step into the store. I would've died. Happily.

So after a wedding last Saturday morning, I headed to a Coffee Shop in SS2 for some hawker-food lovin' with Ivan (my other cousin who is more like a younger brother I never had).
As Ivan stepped out of his car, I literally screamed at the parking lot..

"ARE THOSE RETROF**KINGSUPERFUTURE FLAT TOPS?!"
and yes.. they were..

Of course I had to try them on?!

I immediately got an itch. So as soon as I got home, I went to checkout what else they had!

When It's Not a Dream Anymore

I'm counting down my days to New York. I have exactly 22 days.

Can I wait? Yes. Because I'd rather savour the excitement.

I think one of my biggest challenges would be to visit ALL the designer boutiques I've listed down.

Of course, I don't have a limitless credit card, but I think being able to touch a Proenza Schouler, a Prabal Gurung, an Alexander Wang, a Malandrino or The Row anything will make me the happiest girl alive.

I plan to sit quietly for 10 minutes at Bryant Park, even though I know there won't be any shows going on just to say "I've arrived - in New York City".

Thank you God for making my dream come true.

I used to be a sucker for cheap clothes. But I realized that buying cheaper things didn't make me 'smarter' when it came to shopping."Cheap" stuff comes with alot of unwanted baggage.

Bad part is, you can only learn through experience, and spending alot of money, and time.

Don't get me wrong though, not all cheap stuff are 'bad'.

Sometimes, you DO need to spend a bit more to look better than good, if that is what you want.

Other times, you just have to put in a little extra effort.

After all, we all want to FEEL great wearing whatever, don't we?

On another note, I just watched The Cove. It was truly heartbreaking. You have to watch it to understand why.

Please if you can, watch it and take part in spreading the word.

17th July 2010 - Mizz Nina's long awaited launch was one of the best turnout launches I've attended in a long time.
Her ever supporting fans began queueing outside Zouk at 3pm. The sight of moms chaperoning their daughters to the launch was overwhelming!

I must say, having a Fashion Designer for a DAD must be pretty damn cool. But if your are equally, if not as talented as your dad, you must be Moises De La Renta. The son of, but of course one of my favourite fashion Gods, Oscar De La Renta.

Coming from a design and photography background, Moises De La Renta recently established MDLR, his own women's wear fashion line.

So why do I like this boy?

"I want to represent the independent woman—she’s cool, she’s chilling, doing her own thing, having a good time. She may go out on her own. She doesn’t need her girlfriends, she doesn’t need her guy to pay for the bill. She’s just an independent, modern woman just doing her thing."

"..it’s definitely for the girl who likes to have fun, for the girl who feels like a rock star even though she may not be. My clothes are just about having fun and being comfortable with oneself."

That's why. That's me.

So, when I saw MOISES DE LA RENTA for MNG in the store. I almost went BLIND.

He designed 10 t-shirts for this collaboration. There was 3 designs in particular that was messing with my head - so of course, I took them home so they'd stop bothering me.

and oh yeah, his website is the MOST painfully sick fashion website, I have come across in a longgg time.
